When’s the last time you and your family had taco night? If you answered “never” or “it’s been a while” now is the chance to have a fiesta night right at home.

Making homemade tacos is easier than you would imagine and takes basically no time. You will have fresh, hot and tasty tacos served up within a few minutes. No need to use the pre-made sauces and seasonings eithers. You can make all your own and your tacos will taste incredibly authentic.

Let’s get cooking!

Here’s What You’ll Need

  1. 1 pound of fresh skirt steak
  2. Chili powder
  3. Dried oregano
  4. Sugar (preferably organic sugar)
  5. Sea salt
  6. Black pepper
  7. 6 inch flour or corn tortillas (which ever you prefer)
  8. Olive oil
  9. Red onions cut into slices
  10. Sour cream
  11. Guacamole
  12. Salsa Verde
  13. Pico de Gallo
  14. Shredded cheese for serving

Directions

Slice the steak into thin slices along the grain of the meat. Once you have sliced the steak into thin slices place them all into a mixing bowl. Add the chili powder, sugar, oregano, salt and pepper and toss until the meat is covered entirely with seasonings.

Heat your skillet with some oil while your steak is marinating. While your pan is heating up place your tortillas in the oven at 350 degrees for about 5 minutes so they get nice and warm. Make sure you watch them so they don’t overcook and become crisp.

Once your pan is heated up and your tortillas are nicely warm you can get started on cooking the steak. Place your steak in the heated pan and toss your steak until the meat is browned. It is okay is the center is slightly meat because this adds a slightly juicy texture and enhances the flavor of the meat. You will only have to cook the meat for about 2 minutes before it is done.

After your steak is cooked for about two minutes add the sliced red onions to the skillet and let them cook with the steak for another 2 minutes. Take off the heat and transfer the steak and onions to a bowl and let sit for a few minutes while you prepare the toppings for the tacos.

Serving the Tacos

You can set up a taco bar with the freshly cooked steak and onions. Have a few bowls set aside with all your toppings. One bowl with sour cream, one with Pico, one with salsa, one with lettuce, one with tomato and one with cheese. Have all these set aside so the people serving themselves can pick and choose what they like on their tacos.

The best taco is served on a warm tortilla wrapped with all the toppings! Doesn’t get any better than that and you’ll have tasty tacos right at home your family members will swear taste as authentic as they some.

Tip: For the little ones you can serve the steak and onions in a quesadilla with cheese if their little hands can’t hold the taco in place.
